K&C Data and Vehicle Dynamics Simulation

One important application of K&C testing is vehicle dynamics simulation. Morse Measurements is prepared to help you get the K&C data you need for your simulation quickly and accurately.

K&C Data for CarSim Models

For CarSim users, Morse Measurements can provide an expanded pars file, ready for direct import into CarSim 9, that contains all of the K&C measured parameters needed to run CarSim. This is a huge time saver, taking minutes to accomplish something that would take weeks to complete by hand. Just import the expanded pars file from Morse Measurements, and all relevant K&C data is in your model and ready to run!

For example, here is a camber curve measured on the rig and the same information imported into the CarSim environment:

Many K&C measured parameters are included in the CarSim model, such as anti-roll bar

stiffness contribution and steer compliance.

The K&C measured parameters along with other vehicle information including the drivetrain, tire, and aerodynamic properties allow CarSim to simulate dynamic events.

K&C Data for ADAMS Models

For the MSC ADAMS vehicle dynamics simulation system, we offer custom files for easy import. If you are using ADAMS, we can export a custom file for each K&C test we run. These files can then be used to easily and quickly import your K&C results into your ADAMS vehicle dynamics simulation.

We have extensive experience working with clients using IPG’s CarMaker. CarMaker requires a set of specific tests to characterize the kinematics and compliance parameters of vehicle. We are familiar with these tests and have completed several successful CarMaker projects with clients.

K&C testing at Morse has helped us better understand our chassis system and vehicle dynamic behavior.

The data from Morse helps to identify gaps and deficits in our multi-body vehicle simulations – allowing for better quantification of ride and handling characteristics, as well as comparing to available vehicle benchmark data from target market leaders. We’re now able to adjust our vehicle model to a more mature state that reflects the actual prototypes, and then use that model to perform more accurate simulations going forward. This is a key enabler for us to make good design decisions in a timely way and without another round of expensive prototype vehicles; it multiplies the learning from a given prototype significantly.
